Development Process

Phu Bai airport was built in 1940, a time of French colonial period, with a clay runway size of 1200m X 40m. After the runway was upgraded to 1800m X 40m in size and tar-concrete surface by US .

3/26/1976: Phu Bai Airport was formed and run as a mixed airport, military and civil .

4/25/1984: The runway was extended 900m to the east as a mean to serve medium-sized aircrafts.
